Cosmo

After seeing Les Miserables (which i'm rather obsessed with,) I went with my family to Cosmo. Its a Pan-Asian buffet restaurant, you pay one price and then can eat all that you want in around 2 hours. This is not your run of the mill buffet there are counters of freshly prepared sushi and dim sum and grills where chefs prepare high quality ingredients to order. My usual is steak with scallops and then golden mushrooms wrapped in a steak slice and squid. There are also delicious dishes from all over Asia and a small European section with pizza, roasts etc. The desserts are great as well, there's a huge variety including chocolate fondue, eton mess, chocolate cake, fruit salad and small Asian cakes. There are venues all over the UK and I'd definitely recommend it for the high quality ingredients, decor, variety and value. Its perfect for a large group meal or introducing someone to cuisines they may not have tried before. Hopefully, they don't mistake wasabi and pickled ginger for avocado and ham as my dad did, but if they do I promise you its very amusing.

Life of Pi

I recently saw Life of Pi and what really stood out for me were three main things. Firstly the graphics were incredible especially the vibrancy of India, the storm, the tiger and meercat island which mixed surreal humour with the sinister nature of the deadly island to great effect.

Secondly the connection I felt the director created between the audience and Pi in his simultaneous isolation and companionship with the tiger was captivating.

Thirdly I was really impressed with Irrfan Khan's performance as the adult Pi who portrayed great wisdom and emotion. I was also impressed with Rafe Spall it was definitely a step up from "Dan versus Life" which is the only other thing I've seen him in.

I would definitely recommend it. Has anyone else seen it, what did you think?

Hope you had a great Christmas and New Year hows it going being back in the reality that is January?

Hiya i'm Becky, I'm 22 and in my final year of university studying social anthropology. I live in South East London with my family during the holidays. My interests include travel, cooking..and eating (especially seafood and chocolate!), hanging out with friends, sailing, reading, watching far too much tv, creative writing and fashion.  I love to try random new things which is partly why I'm starting this blog. I have no idea where the next few years are going to take me but am excited to get started i chose "seizing skies" in the hope that this blog will be a reflection of me improving and accepting myself and embarking on the things Ive been wanting to for ages and sharing this all with you.

On another note I'm really new to blogging and photography so please bear with me on the appearance of the blog and photographs as I learn..any tips are very welcome...I currently have a Lumix digital camera.
